Emre Sahin (Director/Writer/Editor)
Emre Sahin is an experienced director, cinematographer, and editor whose award winning short film, Canta, won Best Cinematography at the Beverly Hills International Film Festival, Audience Choice Award at the West Chester Film Festival, Best Short at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, and was named the Best Film of 2005 by Turkuaz magazine. Rhode Island International Film Festival chose Canta as part of their Best of the Festival, a touring showcase of the festivals top films from each category. In addition, Canta was the official selection in over 40 additional film festivals around the world.
Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Sahin first moved to the United States to study film at Boston’s, Emerson College. His student film Fetish was awarded two acclaimed Evvy Awards (Best Film, Best Editing). Upon moving to Los Angeles after graduation, Sahin captured the coveted Panavision scholarship, where he trained with some of the world’s leading directors of photography.
Sahin has since directed and edited documentary and television shows for networks such as ABC, ABC Family, MTV, VH1, The History Channel, The Travel Channel, The Food Network, TLC, and The Discovery Channel. He is the director and creator of the documentary series Cities of the Underworld for the History Channel and TLC’s provocative 10 episode series Beyond the Bull following three of the world’s top professional bull riders on their quest for the world title during the turbulent PBR season. He has worked with Academy Award nominee Randall Wallace (Braveheart, We Were Soldiers), directing Fight Or Die for the Discovery channel.
40 is Sahin’s first feature film.
Sahin is represented by Creative Artists Agency in Los Angeles and splits his time between Istanbul and Los Angeles.
Sahin won the Behlul Dal Special Jury award at the 46th Antalya Film festival for best new talent. In addition, Variety magazine called Sahin "a talent to watch". 40 also received a special jury mention at the Palm Springs International Film Festival for its "stylish directing and energy".
